POCKET ROCKET, or “Charlotte”, is the doe that kicked off our journey into the world of registered Nubian dairy goats. Born over 2 weeks premature and weighing less than 2.5 lbs at birth, it was a miracle that she survived, especially with her being our first ever bottle baby. Being the only kid of our first 2 Nubians, we are grateful that we were able to save her and see her grow into a beautiful doe that is the best of both of her parents. Despite her parents being from local bloodlines and from before we knew much about conformation and pedigrees, we are fortunate that Charlotte is turning out to be such a nice doe. She was described during her first LA session as a 2yr FF to be a solid, dairy doe who just needs more time to mature and gain more capacity. And that, we definitely agree with. While her family is slow to mature, they are worth the wait. With maturity, Charlotte is becoming a deep and powerful doe, adding onto her balanced and correct build. Maturity has also surprised us with a very high and wide rear udder arch, a huge improvement over both her FF mammary and her dam’s.
Charlotte is also proving to be a valuable brood doe, consistently producing kids with improved conformation while maintaining the traits that we wanted to keep in each breeding. Her first daughter, FREEFALL KDS FLIGHT RISK, won her dry leg at just under 8 weeks old at the highly competitive WDGA Badger Stateline Classic show. FLIGHT RISK freshened with a gorgeous improved mammary, making us eager to see how Charlotte’s younger daughters will do.
